Biography

Henry Blanchard King was born in 1856 in Torquay, Devon, England to Samuel King, Vicar of Cantly, and Constance King.

He immigrated to Australia.

He married Elizabeth Ann Horsfield in 1883 in New South Wales. ^[1]

Together they became the parents of George Alastair King, Joseph H. King, Constance May (King) Tracy, and Arthur Norman King,

By 1890 Henry was farming at Evandale on the Isle of Wellington in New Zealand. ^[2]

Elizabeth and Henry separated in 1905. A divorce was finalized in November 1921.

Henry passed away on 23 August 1927 and was cremated at Karori Cemetery in Wellington, Wellington, New Zealand.

. . . The funeral of the late Mr. Henry Blanchard King, formerly of Nelson, took place on Thursday at the Crematorium, Karori. Mr. King had been in failing health for some years. Mr. King was very much respected by all who knew him and amongst other friends present at his funeral were representatives of the Willington Working men's Club and the Tally Clerks' Union. He leaves a wife and sons and daughters. Tow of his sons gave up their lives during the Great War. . . .
