Biography

Irven King, son of John King and Caroline Gannon, was born 21 September 1880.[1][2]
He was probably born in Union Township, Rock, Wisconsin where they lived in 1880.[3]

In 1881, the John King family and his brother, James King, left their home in Rock County, Wisconsin, for Dakota territory. They settled on government land in what is now Fairview Township, Hanson County.[4][5]

John and Caroline King's three sons married three Blunt sisters, daughters of Charlotte (Cordray) and James Madison Blunt: Vernell "Vern" King married Lucy Blunt, Ernest King married Nellie Blunt, and Irven King married Julia Blunt, and their sister, Georgie King married Frank Boehmer. A 4th Blunt daughter, Lydia Louise, married Caroline's brother, Henry Philip Gannon.

After the marriage of Irvin King and Julia Blunt in 1904, they farmed in Fairview Township[6] then later in Jasper Township, Hanson County. [7][8]

Their children were born in South Dakota:

  1. Ruth Otella King[6]
  2. Esther King[6][7]
  3. Vernell King[6][7][8]
  4. Floyd King[6][7]
  5. Rachel King[7][8]
  6. Herbert King[7][8]

When Irven King registered for the WWI draft 12 Sep 1918, he was a married, self employed farmer in rural Fulton, Hanson, South Dakota.[1]

Irven King died 11 December 1938 in Davison, South Dakota; [9] burial in Graceland Cemetery, Fulton, Hanson County, South Dakota, with his wife Julia.[2][10]
