Benjamin was born in 1742. He is the son of Curtis King and Mary Barnett. He was baptised at Holy Trinity church, Gosport, Hampshire, England on 25 September 1742. [1][2]
Research Notes
There appear to be a number of Kings that remain in the Gosport, Portsea area 1760-1810 with more than one Benjamin King. There is no guarentee he survived to aduylthood or remained in that area. There are two possible marriages to explore further: 1) to Ann King (a cousin?) in 1780 on 28 November in St Mary's Church, Portsea [3] and, 2) to a widowed Benjamin King to a single, Mary Smith on 19 August 1783 in St Marty's Church, Portsea, Hampshire. A Richard Gudge is a witness to both, indicating it is probably the same Benjamin. [4]
