Richard King, son of Curtis King and his wife, Mary Barnett, was born on 10 August 1730. [1] He was baptised at Holy Trinity in Gosport on 27 August 1730. [2]
At Wimborne Minster in Dorset on 30 November 1769 he married Susannah Margaretta Brown, daughter of Curtis King and his wife, Mary Barnett, and widow of George Cornwallis Brown.[3] They had children.
He passed away 7 Nov 1806 and was buried at St Marylebone, Westminster on the 4th of December. [4]
He left a will, proved in 1807. [5]
The Wikipedia entry gives a good career summary as does the History of Parliament entry. He was an Admiral, a MP and a colonial Governor. He was knighted and later created the 1st Baronet of King of Bellevue (named after his Bellevue House in Southampton, Hampshire [6])
Please check his marriage, if his wife is daughter of his parents it means she is a sister, that can't be right?
The marriage was checked by someone because from the entries above he married a Coker. (updated by N.Davis)
Threedecks website provides his naval service record [3]
