Biography

U.S. Southern Colonies Project logo
Mary (Kincheloe) Simpson was a Virginia colonist.

Mary Kincheloe was born in North Farnham Parish, Richmond County, Virginia, in 1719. She married Colonel Richard Simpson, Jr., in the late 1730s and became the mother of fifteen children. Although all the children appear to have been born in Virginia, both Mary and her husband died in Caswell County, North Carolina, Richard at about the age of 66, and Mary about the age of 76.

Mary was mentioned on a memorial in Simpson Family Cemetery, Camp Springs, Caswell County, North Carolina, United States with a death date of 1798.[1] Note that memorial has no gravestone photo, indicating information is only based on family history with no proving sources.

The 7 Jul 1795 death date given on this profile appears to be incorrect. Mary Simpson wrote her will on 6 Nov 1797, and it was proved in Caswell Co., NC, October Court, 1798. The children named in Mary's will match the children named in her husband's (Richard Simpson) will.

could you add an explanation as to how the mother is confirmed by DNA? (I'm assuming it is, considering all the folks listed as related & having their DNA tested, I just don't quite understand how that works.)

Thanks! Liz

Kincholoe-1 and Kincheloe-34 appear to represent the same person because: same birth info. Daughter Simpson=husband Simpson, so that's a match too . And death in nc, although years are off. Kincheloe (with an "e" instead of Kincholoe) is the more usual spelling.

Kincheloe-187 and Kincheloe-34 appear to represent the same person because: same birth /husband. Text for Kincheloe-34 says children were all born Virginia, so marriage was probably Virginia too.
