Hi David.....I recently found my DNA matches as my father being Redfern "Buster" Ragsdale, son of Charles Lee Ragsdale and Retha Maybelle Stowe. Retha's grandmother was Alpha E. Ayers and her husband was William Stowe. I was able via Ancestry DNA to find my dad's line, which had all passed. I went from an only adopted child, to being related to most of Georgia!! I am on Ancestry, JEKoscheski, and would welcome anyone to come share their tree with me. Andrew Ayers Martin has been an extreme help to complete most of my tree. It's a pleasure and a thrill to find more and more cousins on Ancestry, GEDmatch, MyHertiage and here. Jacqueline Ragsdale/Schaefer (adopted name)/Koscheski
Hi. I am new to wiki tree. I have my brother in the Sutherland Surname Y DNA project at Family tree DNA. We are looking for our direct paternal link to the Sutherland surname in early Virginia. I see it says no males from this persons line has Y tested. But do you know of any direct line males from this line that are living? Our male lines Y DNA is also linked back to Morayshire. Most, if not many in that group are direct desendants of the Early Earls of Sutherland. We can’t get back any further than about 1800 in Virginia. But our males surname then was Phillips not Sutherland! Hope to hear back from you.

Cheryl, I just noted the following on the page for Ethyl Covey Newsom:

Ethel was born in 1903. She was the daughter of William Covey. She passed away in 1961

This I feel sure is correct. I am certain that she was not born in 1864. I knew her personally. 1903 should be correct.

We have extensive records of the Coppedge family, so I will look forward to corresponding with you when we get home.

Hi David,

Enjoy your trip and when you get a chance you can look into Ethyl (Covey) Newsom per profile was born in 1864. Probably she was born 20 to 25 years later based on her fathers dob. I am working on the error sheet for extended family members and looks like we are distant cousins since this showed up on my family errors worksheet. Until later, Cheryl

Thanks for pointing out the Kay merge and joining your tree with mine. I am very proud of my maternal grandmother's line (she was born Ruby Kay).

You probably already know that you and I are 4th cousins/4x removed, but you are 4th cousins/2x removed with the 39th President of the US via your Kay line.

Hi David,

I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. Here's a link to a great step-by-step of the process including screenshots that you might find helpful.

The help pages give lots of information about the process, best to start with 'Before you import a GEDCOM'.

Thanks, Bill
