Thomas Surfleet Kendall was the eldest son of Thomas Kendall and Jane Quickfall. The Kendall family were free settlers who arrived in Australia aboard the convict ship, "Earl Spencer" on 9 Oct 1813 (as mentioned in Governor Macquarie's journal).
The family travelled to New Zealand the following year on the Active in 1814. In 1825, Thomas left NZ and returned to Australia.
He was a carpenter.
