My parents
My parents were born into farming families in Franklin County, Illinois during the 1920's as coal mining was booming there. They survived the Great Depression and WWII. My mom joined the Cadet Nursing Corps and became an RN while my dad served in the army in Alaska and Panama during WW2. After the war was over they worked for a while in Illinois but decided to get married and make the astounding move to southern California.
Me
I was born in 1951 in Inglewood, California, a suburb of Los Angeles. I am an only child and when I was 3 my parents bought a new home in La Mirada, CA where I lived until I married in 1971.
I married in 1971 and my husband and I have one daughter. I've lived all around Los Angeles, 5 years in Pensacola, Florida and currently in southern Indiana just across the Ohio River from Louisville, KY.
I've attended college off and on (I just retired from Indiana University) and had many different jobs. I've always been interested in history and genealogy, second only to science and medicine. I loved learning and music (oh, and Disney).

Yes I am still interested in joining the Wales Project. I believe my Jones ancestor may have immigrated from Wales to the USA. My earliest known Jones ancestor, George Jones, was born in Tennessee circa 1805. Thank you Debbie Vietzke
As noted above, you need to respond using your Private Message link. That is the only way to get your email address which is required.
Do not put your email address here.
Also, you must advise which team or teams you are requesting to join.
The teams are described here - https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Wales
The only available groups of teams are the first 4 which must be opened to see the individual teams.

When you have the chance, please add your South Central Appalachia interests next to your name on our South Central Team page. While you’re there, you can read what others are working on and get to know us a little bit. Then join us on the Discord channel – we are a friendly bunch!
Also, please review our Reliable (and Unreliable) Sources for the Appalachia Project to help with sourcing our Profiles as you add or come across them. WikiTree requires valid sources on all Profiles and our Project has certain requirements for sources. Check the Appalachia Stickers Page for tips on adding stickers to profiles. In fact, you can add a team sticker to your own page!
I am always available for any questions or help. Thanks for joining the team.

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.
Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.
If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.
Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Thanks for your hard work on WikiTree. Can you tell me what sort of sources you mainly use for the information on the profiles you have created? We have created a help page for WikiTreers and we are always looking for more sources to list there.
Here is what our Sources help page says. It has lots of ideas: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Sources

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we share ancestors and work together as a BIG collaborative team!
When you confirm your email address, youll have an opportunity to become a member of WikiTree. Use the Tags and comments to tell us about your genealogical interests. One of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership.
