Born 1847, son of George Hastings Jephson and Harriet née Colclough.
Brought up by his aunts Catherine and May Colclough at Tintern Abbey, Co. Wexford.
His birth certificate shows his father as George Hastings Jephson, Professor of Music and residing at 15 Bridge Street, Waterford which is where he was also living when he married Mary Rose née Shearman.
He was a civil engineer.
He married Mary Rose Nicholson Shearman and had children:
Catherine Colclough who died 10/10/1939 at Tintern Abbey,
George Hastings,
Mary Colclough who died 15/4/1919 in New Jersey, USA and
John Jephson, born 185? and died unmarried in 1919.
He was possibly born at Kilkenny.
He died 4/6/1914.
