Jonah was born in Chadlington, Oxfordshire in 1846.[1] He was the son of Thomas Huckin and Mary (Savage) Huckin. He was privately baptised at the parish church of St Nicholas on 5th November 1846.[2] His father stated on the register that he was a labourer and there is a note that he was received into the church on 13th December.
