William was born in Semaphore, South Australia during 1914. He is the son of William Hosler and Jane Munt. He passed away in South Australia during 1997.

William served in the Australian Army during the Second World War. He enlisted in Adelaide, South Australia on 31 October 1941, and was discharged with the rank of Private with a posting in the 2/1 Port Operating Company on 8 February 1946.^[2]

William married Kathleen Joyce Arthur somewhere in Australia sometime after the following announcement in the South Australian newspaper, The Advertiser, on 8 May 1947:^[3]

ARTHUR — HOSLER. — The engagement is announced of Kathleen Joyce, daughter of Mrs. I. Arthur, of Ethelton, to William, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Hosler, of Semaphore.

William died in South Australia on 28 June 1997.^[4]

William was buried at Cheltenham Cemetery in Cheltenham, South Australia on 2 July 1997.^[5][6]
