William Hodde, prominent farmer of the Golden City Community, was buried Sunday at that place. Mr. Hodde, who died Wednesday, was born in Germany and came to this country when he was quite young (1879-1881?).
He was reared in the western part of Dade County, and was widely known for his community spirit, patriotism, and his ability as a farmer. (Invented & patented a gate). Quite a number from here attended the funeral, who say the great crowd that gathered in tribute was a testimonial to his popularity.
Mr. Hodde's first wife, who was Mary Brunner, died in 1919. In 1920 he was married to Miss Coral Crandall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Crandall who live southwest of Miller.
