Biography

Joseph Adam Hebert, son of Jean Clairfe Hebert and Marie Emelia Rivette, was born on 18 December 1897 in Carencro, Lafayette Parish, LA.1,2 He was enumerated as the son of Clairfe' Hebert (given age 38) on the 1900 Census in St. Landry Parish, LA.3 Adam Hebert (given age 12) was enumerated as the son of Claifey Hebert (given age 47) on the 1910 Census, living in St. Landry Parish, LA. He labored as a field hand.4

He registered for the draft during World War I in 1918. At that time, he was living in Sunset, St. Landry Parish, LA. Adam was a student at St. Charles College in Grand Coteau, and gave the name of his father, Clerfey Hebert of Sunset, as his nearest relative. He was described as being of medium height and build, with gray eyes and light brown hair.5
