Hi Christine, and welcome to the Louisiana Project! We ask all project members to read our project pages to become familiar with early Louisiana naming customs, such as no middle names (just multiple "first" names or prenoms) and women did not take the husband's last name (she would be addressed as Madame Husband's Last Name, but she would sign legal papers with her own LNAB). And there's other good information on our pages, too! Another thing we strongly suggest for your own increased enjoyment of WikiTree, is to take the Profile Improvement Project's PIP Voyage, which will teach you all about WikiTree as you improve two of your own managed profiles. See https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1549658/profile-improvement-project-voyage-managed-profiles-shine for how to get started! Let us know if you have any questions!
Hi, Christine, I was just reviewing some edits on Acadian profiles and those of their descendants. I see that you still need to review the Louisiana Project Page for naming conventions, found here
There were no middle names (all were first names) and there were no "married" last names, women kept their birth names, and no suffixes used at all. I've made changes on the Louisiana profiles you edited this Tuesday, though I see there are more that need to be fixed in your watchlist. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to contact Stephanie Ward.

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles!
It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines laid out on that page.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
Welcome to WikiTree from your cousins at the Acadian and Louisiana Projects! Just wanted to make sure you're familiar with the French naming customs exception for filling in names in the data fields of our shared French ancestors. Please see https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Acadians#Naming_Conventions for more information.
Cheers!
I have added the parents of Hazel Arnaud Lanclos so you can add her siblings to her profile. I also corrected the location of her birth and death, her burial site was already listed in her biography.
I am related to Hazel's husband Edwin Carroll Lanclos (1st cousin 1x removed). My mother was Anna Bell Lanclos (Lanclos-55).
Thank you for joining us! I wanted to check in with you to see how things are going. How do you like WikiTree so far? Have the tips in the New Member How To Pages been helpful or have they left you with questions?

P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.
One of our mentors created a tutorial for the GEDCOMpare process that others found very helpful. I hope that you will too.

I hope you love WikiTree as much as I do. You never know when you will find a lost ancestor or family member. Maybe you will find a family secret about an ancestor like I did.

Thank you for adding your DNA Test information to your profile on WikiTree. Your information will be propagated to the profiles of your parents and your ancestors within about 24 hours of being added. It will also propagate to the profiles of the descendants of your ancestors, so they may see your information under the heading "DNA Connections" just as you can see theirs.
Getting started with DNA outlines how to proceed to use your DNA test information on WikiTree and DNA is a link to a collection of links about WikiTree's many features involving DNA.
The DNA Connections list on your profile will provide a visual way for you to find potential relatives on WikiTree who have also added their DNA test information. Using DNA tools at sites like GEDMatch.com, if you find a relative that matches your DNA sufficiently and you have genealogical sources for the intermediate relationships, you can mark the specific parental relationships back to the most recent ancestor that you both share as "confirmed with DNA." For details, guidance, and examples of how to properly document DNA confirmations, see DNA confirmation.
To get the best results, begin adding sourced profiles for your ancestors until you can connect to ancestors already in WikiTree. If you have exhausted what you know on one line, it can sometimes help to add what you know on another line. The more branches you are able to add the greater the likelihood of finding potential cousins to match with. The process of identifying which branch elements of DNA relate to will better enable you to find matches that relate to the particular branches you are researching.
This is just a note to say hi and to let you know that I'm available to answer questions about joining WikiTree.
