Biography

Marie Emelia Rivette, daughter of Joseph Rivette and Emelia Cormier, was born on 22 March 1859 in Arnaudville, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, United States.^[1] She was enumerated on the 1870 and 1880 censuses with her parents and siblings in St. Landry Parish.^[2][3]

She married Jean Clairfe Hebert, son of Desire Hebert and Marie Elmire Breaux, in Lafayette Parish. They applied for a marriage license on 26 January 1886 in Lafayette,^[4][5] and were wed in the church a few days later, on 1 February 1886, at Carencro.^[6]

She and Clairfe were enumerated during the 1900 census in St. Landry Parish.^[7]

She died at age 47 in November 1906, and was buried at St. Charles Borromeo Church cemetery in Grand Coteau.^[8] Application for probate of her estate was filed on 5 December 1906 at the courthouse in Opelousas.^[9]
