Obituary

Carroll E. Hassler went home to heaven on April 24, 2010. He was born November 19, 1930, in Underwood, ND, where he grew up and attended school. He married Fay Wilson of Donnybrook, ND in 1950. She was always his best friend.

Carroll joined the US Air Force in 1951 and served for twenty-six years. His military service took his family and him to six states and to an overseas assignment in Germany. Carroll also served one tour of duty in Vietnam. Following his military retirement, he was a Realtor in Sioux Falls. In 1992, Carroll and Fay retired to their dream home on Oakwood Lake. Carroll was active in the Bruce American Legion and Grace Lutheran Church. In 2009, Carroll moved to the Inn on Westport in Sioux Falls. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and will be missed greatly by his family and friends. His time with us was a gift for which we will always be grateful.

Carroll is survived by his daughters, Belinda Hassler and Wendy Giebink; grandchildren Jesse, Sarah, Erin, and Skye; great-grandchildren, Alaina and Nolan; brother, David (Dixie) Hassler; sister, Arnetta Voeller; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Fay and infant son, Tracy; his parents, and his brothers Robert and Fred.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm with family present from 5-7 pm Tuesday evening at Miller Funeral Home, 507 S. Main Avenue, with a Celebration of Life service at 6:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held 12:30 pm Wednesday, at Grace Lutheran Church in Bruce, SD. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Sioux Falls. The family requests gifts in Carroll's memory be made to the Children's Miracle Network at www.sanfordhealth.org
