Biography

Mary was born about 1856. She was the daughter of Jacob Hanauer and Mary Kelley.

Her mother passed away in December 1856. In 1860, she and her father Jacob were living in the household of her uncle Louis in Pocohontas, Randolph county, Arkansas.[1]

Her uncle Louis Hanauer and his wife Susan (Kelley) Hanauer appeared to raise her. She was living with her uncle Louis's family in District 14, Shelby, Tennessee in 1870.[2]

She married Henry Clay Hampson on 17 Feb 1874 in Shelby county, Tennessee.[3] They had children.

Mary was listed as an heir of Jacob Hanauer in the probate of his estate in Shelby county, Tennessee in 1874. Her uncle Louis Hanauer was the guardian to her and to her half-siblings.[4]

An 1880 newspaper article mentioned a visit by Lena Hanauer of Cincinnati to her sister Mrs. H. C. Hampson in Memphis.[5]

They were living with her uncle Louis in 1880 in Shelby county in 1880.[6] She was listed as Louis's daughter on that census.

She and her husband and their two daughters were living in Carson Lake & Tory township in Mississippi county in Arkansas in 1900.[7]

They returned to Memphis in Shelby county, Tennessee. Her husband passed away in Memphis, Shelby, Tennessee in 1907.

Mary was widowed and living in Shelby, Tennessee in 1910.[8]

She passed away in 1910 according to a court case reported in 1915.[9]
