Biography

Margaret was born in Birstall, Yorkshire in late September 1903. She was the only daughter of John William Haley and his wife Margaret, born a few months after her father's death.

Margaret was raised alongside her siblings in Batley by her mother, briefly a stepfather, and their maternal grandfather.
