Biography

George Williams Haley was born on February 5, 1869^[1] in Stonington, New London, Connecticut. He was the son of Joshua Haley and Matilda Williams.^[1] At age 1, he was in his parent's home in Stonington, New London, Connecticut.^[2]

He married Hope Frances Dyer (1875-1959) on January 1, 1894 in Rhode Island.^[3][4]They had 3 children.

3. Hope W. (Haley) Gould (1902-1984)

They made their home at 110 Water Street, in Stonington, New London, Connecticut, in 1900, where he worked as a News-Dealer, and Hope kept the home and children, John W-3, and Constance-6 months old.^[4]

He was living in Stonington Connecticut when joined the French Army, May 8 1918.^[5]

He was a news Dealer in a News Store in 1910, in Stonington. By then Hope-8, had been born and was in the home with them along with the other children, John-13, and Constance-10.^[6]

He applied for a Passport in 1921 ^[7]

He returned from Plymoth England on the "Noordam" on October 8, 1919 through Ellis Island, going back to his Residence in Stonington Connecticut.^[8]

In 1920, George, (age 50) owner of a News Store, and Hope (age 44) were living on Church Street in Stonington, with their 3 children, John-22, Constance-20, and Hope-17.^[9]

He died in France on January 29, 1924, and was buried there (inscribed on Head Stone) his memorial head stone is in the Evergreen Cemetery in Stonington, New London, Connecticute.^[1]
