Ezekiel Haines performed Patriotic Service in Virginia in the American Revolution.
Ezekiel was a son of Carlisle Haines and Sarah Matlack. He married Abigail Kemble on 6 October 1745 in Burlington County, New Jersey. They had eight known children. The family moved to Virginia. Ezekiel took an oath of Fidelity in Culpeper County, Virginia. He died on 17 December 1781. [1]

Ezekiel Haines (Carlile, Richard, Richard) farmer, of Culpeper Co., Va. b. Burlington Co., N.J. 3 mo (May) 25, 1721; d. 1781, aged 60 years; m. under the care of Burlington MM, N.J., 1746, Abigail Kemble, b. 3 mo. (May) 1, 1722; d. 1781, aged 60 years; daughter of Thomas and Mary (Collins) Kemble. Their marriage was reported Burlington MM 9 mo. (Nov.) 3, 1746. The date of marriage has been given as 8 mo (Oct.) 6, 1745, and also as Aug. 29, 1746. She was granted a certificate by Burlington MM 12 mo. 3, 1770, to Evesham MM, N.J.
Ezekiel Haines was dealt with by Evesham MM, 12 mo. 4, 1760, for neglecting to attend meetings, for keeping vain and unprofitable company and for romancing, but, he claimed that only the first charge was just. He was found guilty of neglect of worship and acting in military discipline, which action he condemned 3 mo. 5, 1761.
Ezekiel Haines and family were received Hopewell MM, V., 2 mo. 1, 1773, from Evesham MM on certificate dated 8 mo. 6, 1772. He first made a request for a certificate on 2 mo. 8, 1770, but there was some obstruction which caused a delay in the granting of a certificate. He settled in what was then Culpeper, but now Rappahannock Co., Va., on what was known as the 'Delaware Tract' or 'Fairfax Tract' - several thousand acres owned by Lord Fairfax - on the Little Fork of the Rappahannock River. He was in Culpeper Co. as early as March 14, 1768, when he leased land from James Kennerly. He also purchased land from James Kennerly in 1768, and gave a mortgage to him on March 18, 1768.
He was reported, Hopewell MM, 9 mo. 6, 1779, for taking the fidelity test, and was disowned 9 mo. 4, 1780, for taking this test and for training in the Militia.
