Dorcas Gray was born about 1732 in Berwick, York, Massachusetts Bay Colony.[1] Her parents were John and Elizabeth (Goodwin) Gray. Her Gray line descends from the Scottish immigrant (and probable prisoner of war) George Gray. Her Goodwin line descends from the immigrant Daniel Goodwin. Both lines arrived in the Berwick area in the 1650s.
Dorcas married Joseph Greenleaf about 1752, probably in Berwick, Maine, where her family resided.[1][2] They moved to Pownalborough, Lincoln, Maine by 1755, and lived there for the remainder of their lives.
Dorcas' husband Joseph died in 1772.[2] The Joseph Greenleaf baptized on 30 November 1772 was likely born after his father's death, as he is offered by Stephen and Sarah McKenney, and is the only child on that page to have his surname listed.
Dorcas married Moses Hilton in 1781, in Pownalborough.[6] Soon after that her sons John, William, and Joseph removed to the area of Starks, Maine with their uncle's family.
Dorcas died in Wiscasset about 1812.[2] No death or burial records have been found for her. Her husband Moses died in Wiscasset in 1820.
