Biography

"After being away from his (James F Kirkpatrick) home, in the army of the revolution for months, he obtained permission to visit his family which, on account of Toryism, he had to do by stealth. He had been home but a few minutes when, sitting upon his wife's knees, surrounded by his children, he was shot and killed by a Tory named Pruitt, who fired through a window. "

Death

AFT 1818 Sangamon Co., IL [1]

Research Notes

Susannah's second husband, Joseph Scott appears in the tax list 1798 Jackson Co, GA in Capt. Thomas Kirkpatrick (Susannah's son?) company, owning land on Curry's Creek adjoining McCutcher. In 1801, Joseph Scott appears in Jackson Co, GA tax list in Capt Shield's Dist. In 1809 in Capt David McClesky's Dist. (Not certain if Joseph is leasing land to Thos Carson, or from Thos Carson in these documents).
