David was born in Orange Co, NC on 18 April 1774 and married Sarah Tillman on 4 May 1797 in Knox Co, TN where they raised at least eleven children: John Tillman (1797), Mary (1801), Barbara (1802), Elizabeth (1804), Henry (1807), Sarah Angeline (1809), David (1810), Annie and twin Susannah (1812), Rachel Tillman (1816), Nicholas Tillman (1817) and Nancy (1820)
At the age of 73, David died on 5 June 1847. His will dated 4 May 1847, leaves land where I now live to son Nicholas, who in return was to support his mother, Sarah, during her lifetime, also a brother, Henry, who was mentally unbalanced. After Sarah's death the property was to be sold and divided equally among the children except Henry. Witnessed by George Graves and Henderson Clapp - on file at the Knox Co Courthouse, Estates Book 9, p. 364 [1]
