When you have the chance, please add your North Central Appalachia interests next to your name on this page. Also, please review our Reliable (and Unreliable) Sources for the Appalachia Project ( LINK ) to help with sourcing our Profiles as you add or come across them. WikiTree requires valid sources on all Profiles and our Project has certain requirements for sources. Check the Appalachia Stickers Page for tips on adding stickers to profiles.
I am always available for any questions or help. Thanks for joining the team.
Karen, North Central Team Lead - Appalachia Project
Hello Karen, I still can't quite figure out how to add a sticker to profiles and to me. I would appreciate a little help. Maybe I just missing something but I don't see directions or where to do this. Thank you, Judy
Hi, Judy,Sorry you are having trouble. To add a sticker to your own profile, you would open the edit screen and paste the following right under the Biography heading:
For profiles there are a lot of options. Can you give me a Profile ID for one of your people so we can work it out?
The team category for the North Central team is:. Categories are added above the Biography header. If you add that to your profile it will add youi to this page: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Appalachia_Project. That page shows the team members in case you are interested in finding any connections. We can talk about that one later. :-).
For an example, you can go to my Grandma Martin's profile here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Cutright-10. If you open her Edit screen, you can see how the categories look above the Bio and the Appalachia sticker below the Bio.
I know this is long-winded, but promise that it gets easier after you've done a few profiles. Please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions.
Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles!
It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines laid out on that page.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
Welcome to Wikitree. We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.
Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.
Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.
Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.
