Leon Friedenheit was born on 5 June 1870 in Manhattan, New York County, New York. He was the son of Gerson Friedenheit (1833-1920) and Fannie Winklein (1840-1921).[1]

In June 1880, ten-year-old Leon was residing with his parents, nine siblings, and his maternal grandmother at 320 55th Street in Manhattan. His father was working as an insurance broker for fire and life insurance. The middle children Leon, Rachel, Simon, and Sarah were attending school.[2]

On 25 February 1886, Leon passed away at age 15 at his residence on 351 East 78th Street in Manhattan. He was buried on 28 February at Machpelah Cemetery in Queens.[1]
