Biography

John Ford, son of Jacob Ford and Sarah Pool, was born at Abington, Plymouth, Massachusetts Bay Colony on 26 March 1744.[1] John Ford is a Mayflower Descendant of Francis Cooke.[2] His lineage from Francis Cooke is: John6 Ford (Jacob5, Mercy4 Reed, Esther3 Tomson, Mary2 Cooke, Francis1)

John married Lydia Ager on 18 December 1767 in Abington.[3]

Probate

John Ford of Abington, gentleman died intestate and on 10 April 1792, Jonathan Ager of Weymouth and John Ford of Abington were granted the administration of his estate.[4]

His inventory was taken on 12 May 1792 in Abington. His estate was represented as insolvent.[5]

In 1792, his widow Lydia received her dower. A list of claims and creditors was recorded. An account of his estate by Jonathan Ager was recorded which included the sale of real estate, necessaries to the widow, loss in the sale of personal estate, doctor in his last sickness, coffin, digging the grave, and administration fees. The balance was proportioned to the creditors.[6]

In 1796, Daniel Shaw of Abington was appointed guardian of his son James Ford, who was above the age of 14 years old.[7]
