Biography

Mary was the daughter of William Faunt[1][2] and his second wife, Jane Vincent.[3][4][5] Her birth date is not known but her parents married in 1546, her father died in 1559, and three of her children are known to have been born in the first half of the 1590s, so she was of child-bearing age then: against that background, it has been estimated as about 1555. She may have been born in Leicestershire where her father had his main interests.

Her father's Will made provision for her dowry.[6]

Mary married George Corbin of Warwickshire.[1][2][4][5] The date and place of their marriage are not known. They had the following children:

Mary died in 1614. Her husband survived her, dying in 1636.[1][4][5]

Research Notes

The 1870 Harleian Society edition of the 1619 Leicestershire Visitation mistakenly names her husband as George Kerkin.[3]

This profile was re-reviewed for the Magna Carta Project by Michael Cayley on 21 January 2023.
Mary (Faunt) Corbin appears in Magna Carta Ancestry in a Richardson-documented trail from Gateway Ancestor Henry Corbin to Magna Carta Surety Barons Hugh le Bigod and Roger le Bigod (vol. I, pages 533-535 CORBIN). This profile was originally badged by the Magna Carta Project in 2015 as part of a trail to Surety Baron Robert de Ros and was later connected to project-approved trails to the Bigods, Gilbert de Clare, Richard de Clare, John de Lacy, and Saher de Quincy. The trails are set out in the Magna Carta Trails on the Gateway's profile.
See Base Camp for more information about identified Magna Carta trails and their status. See the project's glossary for project-specific terms, such as a "badged trail".

Re-review of this profile completed. None of the locations in the datafields are supported in the text, but marriage & death locations associated with her husband. However, "Annington" seems to come from nowhere. Looking at Ricahrdson's write-up on her father, if she was born c1555, then she was probably born in Leicester (he was MP for Leicester 1553).

Any objection to changing birth location to Leicester?

Verified this profile as being on a project-approved trail (from Corbin-100 to Ros-162, following "Magna Carta badged" profiles to that surety baron). The project account for the Magna Carta Project will be added as a manager later this month to meet WikiTree guidelines (see Help:Project-Managed_Profiles). Give me a holler if you have any questions. ~ Liz, Magna Carta project member

Faunt-2 and Faunt-26 appear to represent the same person because: Appear to be same person dispute marriage date typo.
