“Aunt Sarah King was the midwife in the area. She would deliver the baby, rub melted mutton tallow over its body, and tie a cloth pouch filled asafetida around the neck to war off disease. She doctored ear aches by blowing warm tobacco smoke in the ear, and took off warts by counting how many a person had and touching a few. For thrush she blew into the child’s mouth. She sat up with the sick and laid out the dead.” (Oregon County History, p18)

William died in 1887.
In 1892, Sarah married 3rd to James Martin "Mart" Willard.
His wife had died in 1890 leaving him 6 children.
Sometime later Mart wanted to move to Kansas to be near his cousin, David Willard, but Sallie didn't want to leave her family, so one day he just left and never came back. She never heard from him again. Probably they never officially divorced, but she took the King name back.
