Serafina di Palermo is born and baptized on 8 July 1820. She is the daughter of Vincenzo di Palermo and Oliva Ligotino. Serafina is named after her paternal grandmother, as is traditional for the first born daughter. Her godparents are Francesco and Bernarda Petranella, a married couple.
Serafina marries twice, first to Liborio Grizzaffi on 28 April 1844. Her parents are both still living at this time.
Serafina and Liborio have two children: a daughter, Maria (1845), and a son who is born after his father dies, and is named after him, Liborio (1848).
Maria is born 4 April 1845 and baptized the next day. Her godparents are Giuseppe Ligotino and Giovanna Castro, a married couple.
Liborio dies at age 41 (b. 1806) on 11 July 1847, leaving Serafina two months pregnant.
Their son, Liborio, is born 13 February 1848 in his parents' home in via San Giovanni, Corleone. His birth is reported by the midwife, Francesca Paola De Luca, age 44 (b. 1803). Serafina is 27 (b. 1820). His godparents are Mattheus Dragna and Carmela Grizzaffi, a married couple.
Serafina marries Rosario Oliveri, son of the late Andrea and Mattea Cutropia,[1] a farmer, on 12 April 1848.[2]
Serafina and Rosario have at least five children: Andrea (1850), Vincenzo (1853), Matthea (1856), Salvatore (1859), and Giovanni (1864). Vincenzo is also known from his marriage allegati.
When Vincenzo is born on 24 October 1853 in his parents' home in via S. Giovan Battista, Corleone, Rosario reports the birth. He gives his own age as 28, and that of his wife, Serafina, as age 35 (for an estimated birth year of 1818).
Rosario dies at age 59 on 23 September 1873. Serafina survives him.
Mattea marries Pietro Grizzaffi on 28 September 1874.
Liborio the younger marries for the first time, to Lucia Riina, on 18 November 1877.
Salvatore marries Maria Streva on 1 October 1883. His mother is still living at this time.
Giovanni dies at 23 years of age (b. 15 September 1864) on 3 February 1888.
Serafina dies, reportedly at age 67 (she is 66) on 16 January 1887. According to the record of her death, Serafina does not remarry after Liborio's death, although their marriage and children have been documented.
Vincenzo marries Francesca Riina (of unknown relation to Lucia) on 1 March 1892. This record contains a dispensation, obtained 17 February, due to consanguinity. Vincenzo and Francesca are third cousins.
