Biography

Frederick Denison, born 27 Dec 1795 at Stonington, Connecticut, was the tenth child of Eunice Williams & Isaac Denison.

Frederick Denison died 1 Nov 1814 while serving in the War of 1812. His remains were interred at Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic, New London County, Connecticut. This inscription appears on the Frederick Denison War Monument at the Elm Grove Cemetery:

"He was mortally wounded by a shot from the Enemy's Brig of War Dispatch while acting as a Volunteer in the defense of Stonington, against the attack of the British Squadron, Aug. 19, 1814."

"That the deed of patriotic devotion may be handed down to other generations, inspiring them with fidelity to our liberties, and prompting them to such sacrifices as shall win their Country's need."

"His life was his Legacy and his Country his Heir."
