Biography

Duncan DeAtholia of Strowan is a member of Clan Donnachaidh.

Duncan Crosda Atholia of Glenerochie,3rd Chief of Clan Donnachaidh, son of Robert Atholia of Glenerochie, 2nd Chief of Clan Donnachaidh and heiress of Fordill.[1][2][3][4][5][4][6]

Duncan was born about 1297. Duncan DeAtholia married Miss Graham. He passed away about 1358.

Although the precise descent of the Clan has still to be confirmed. it is certain that the chiefs were the male heirs to the old Celtic earls of Atholl . . . . new information has created complications. . . .

Duncan (Crosda) de Atholia, who appears in the Rotuli Scotiae, Vol. II., page 277, where he is designed as " Duncanus de Atholia, dominus de Rannoch." He was a hostage in England for the ransom of King James I., and is mentioned in the same way as above in the year 1432, in Rymers Foedera, Vol. IV., part 4, page 180. When a man of advanced years he granted, on 20th January, 1438, a charter for some lands to the Dean of Dunkeld, in which he was called " Dominus de Strowan."

He married (according to Douglas's " Baronage of Scotland " a lady of the name of Graham) and died leaving issue, Robert, a very celebrated chief, progenitor of the barons of Strowan, chiefs of the Clan, and a second son[7][4][8]

DeAtholia-2 and De Atholia-6 appear to represent the same person because: These are the same person and they have the same son, Robert, who also needs to be merged. Sources say the LNAB is De Moravia or de Moravia and not DeMoravia.
