Biography

Mary Dancy was born on June 15, 1745 in Surry, Colony of Virginia, daughter of William Dancey (~1710–<1761) and Mary Mason (~1723–1784).

Mary married Drury Wyche (born in 1741 in Brunswick, Virginia; son of Peter Wyche and Alice (Scott) Wyche). Their daughter was Mary Polly Wyche (~1770–1846).

Mary died after 1770.

Research Note

There is no evidence, unfortunately, that Mary had a middle name.

Her baptism record gives her name as, simply, Mary - "Mary d. of William Dansey and w. Mary; b. June 15; c. Aug 31, 1745; gdpts. Hartwell Marable, Mary Marable, Eliza Dobey." ^[1]

Her father's will names her as "daughter Mary." ^[2]
