Biography

Maria Cutrara is a Corleone native resident, the daughter of Giuseppe Cutrara and Vincenza Alfronsi, who married in 1732. She is named after her paternal grandmother.

Maria marries Giovanni Palumbo, son of Mariano Palumbo and the late Angela Spallino, on 19 January 1761.^[1]

Giovanni and Maria have at least four children: Angela (c. 1761), Gaetana (c. 1775), Giuseppe (c. 1776), and Epifanio (c. 1777).

Angela is known from the record of her death in infancy, on 4 July 1761.^[2]

I estimate Gaetana and Giuseppe are each around 20 years old at marriage.

Epifanio is born around 1777, based on his reported age in the 1834 census.

Gaetana marries Giuseppe Maida, a widower, on 7 January 1795.

Giuseppe marries Pietra Maida, the sister of Gaetana's husband, on 27 September 1796. Giovanni and Maria are both still living at this time.^[3]

Epifanio marries Caterina Marino on 10 February 1805. Giovanni has died by this time.^[4]
