Elizabeth Crowson was born in Northamptonshire, England.
Elizabeth was born in 1884 in the village of Helpstone, Northamptonshire, England. She was the daughter and eldest child of Thomas Crowson and Sarah Eady.
By the age of 16, Elizabeth was already working as a shoe machinist. At the time of the 1911 census, she still lived at home with her parents in Helpstone. She was working as a domestic servant. A year later on 21st May, Elizabeth married Alfred Henson at All Saints Church in Cotgrave near Bingham, Nottinghamshire. Alfred was the son of George Henson from Cotgrave, an agricultural labourer, and Fanny Rose Whitby from Burton upon Trent. In the year before their marriage, Alfred worked as a groom at The Kennels in Gedling. By 1921, Alfred's occupation was the same but he had a new employer, J W Hall, a local farmer. By then, the family included at least six children, five daughters and one son.
When the 1939 England census was taken, Alfred was working as a foreman at Grange Farm, Plumtree near Bingham. Two further children were included, a son, Alfred George, born in 1915 but not at home when the 1921 census was conducted, and a daughter, Margaret, born in 1922.
Elizabeth passed away in 1956. Her death was registered in Basford, Nottinghamshire. Alfred lived for another nine years.
