Swithin was a Friend (Quaker)

Swithin Chandler Settled in Birmingham township (PA) on the Brandywine River, and subsequently moved to Christiana Hundred, Delaware.

From The Record of the Descendants of George and Jane Chandler ^[1]

He was born on September 6, 1674, third son of George and Jane Chandler.

In 1704 he married. His wife was Ann ____ (her maiden name we do not know).^[2] He settled on the Brandywine, in Birmingham Township, but subsequently removed to Christianna Hundred, Delaware.

He and his younger brother, Thomas Chandler, who married Mary Mankin, seemed to have been more closely identified with each other than with the rest of the family. They purchased land on the west side of the Brandywine, just below the circular line of New Castle County, Delaware, and they continued to reside there. At one time they owned a mill property on Beaver Creek, on the opposite side of the Brandywine. Thomas' residence was on a part of the land in the band of the creek where it returns into Pennsylvania, and Swithin was also styled of Birmingham Township, Chester County, prior to 1733, and was constable for the township in 1710.

He died about 1742, leaving a large family of sons and daughters
