Biography

Lena May Carpenter was born on April, 26, 1907 in Bolivar, Allegany,New York to Oscar Carpenter and Ella Smith. ^[1]

In 1920, Lena lived in her widowed mother's household with her siblings in Bolivar, Allegany, New York. ^[2]

On October 5, 1928, Lena married Leland Ellsworth King in Olean, Cattaraugus, New York. Lena worked at a box factory and Leland was a tanner. ^{[3] [4]}

In 1930, Lena and Leland lived in his father's household with his siblings in Olean, Cattaraugus, New York. ^[5]

Lena's husband, Leland, was fatally shot in 1936 after he got in the middle of a friend's custody suit. They did not have any children. Her second husband was Oscie Schoonover.

Lena died in May 1982 and was buried in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean, Cattaraugus, New York. ^[6]
