Dr. Hugh H. Callin was born on 16 May 1848 and grew up in Peru, Huron County, Ohio, and Ridgefield, Huron County. His family moved to Wood County in 1861, and Hugh lived in Plain City, Wood County, Ohio in 1870. He received his teacher’s certificate from the Wood County Board of Examiners in 1871, and took his degree, specializing in neuralgia in 1878.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
Hugh and Sarah A Leonard were married on 20 Apr 1879 in Wood County, Ohio. The young couple set up their home in Portage, Wood County, Ohio in 1880. Sadly, Hugh died on 12 Sep 1880 at the age of 32 in Portage, Wood, Ohio. He was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Bowling Green. Sarah remarried on 6 Sep 1888 to Oziah B Culver (1853–1930) in Wood County. She died on 17 Nov 1900 at the age of 51 and was buried with Hugh in Oak Grove Cemetery.[7][8][9][10]
