Biography

Frank was born in 1865. He was the son of Samuel Black and Mary Watts. (*) "Frank W. Black, 71, former Vice President of the Chase National Bank, died Saturday Night of heart disease in the Brooklyn Hospital. In addition to his wife, Mary E. Black, with whom he resided at the Hotel St. George, Mr. Black is survived by a brother, Howard, of Manhattan and a sister, Mrs. Florence Reed of Boston. He retired a year ago as auditor of the Corporation Trust Company of New York, of which he was director. Mr. Black was also director of the Pacific Commercial Company, and the Thorndale Corporation. He was born in Calais, Me., and came to New York 45 years ago, settling in Brooklyn. Mr. Black retired as Vice President of the Chase National Bank four years ago. He was a member of the Bankers and other down-town Manhattan clubs. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the All Souls Universalist Church, Ocean and Dittmas aves."
