Rhoda J. Bird was born on April 18, 1816 in Franklin, Virginia, United States, daughter of Luke Bird (1784–1843) and Sarah Morgan (1787–1857).

She married Bluford H Oxley on 1 February 1848, in Floyd, Virginia, United States.[1]

They were the parents of at least 1 son and 2 daughters:

Sarah Ann Oxley-1839–Deceased
Daniel L Oxley-1854–1917[2]
Elizabeth R Oxley-1856–1925[3]

She lived in Wythe, Virginia, United States for about 10 years,[4] and Wythe, Virginia, United States in 1860,[5] and Mechanicsburg, Bland, Virginia, United States in 1870,[6] and Plymouth District, Mercer, West Virginia, United States in 1880.[7]

She died on 27 January 1881, in Mercer, West Virginia, United States, at the age of 64, and was buried in Oxley Family Cemetery, Athens, Mercer, West Virginia, United States.[8]
