George Benting was born in Shropshire, England.

George was born on 24th June 1891^[1][2] and was baptised on the 3rd August 1891 at Llanybodwell, Shropshire.^[3]. He was the son of Edward Benting and Mary Evans.

During the first World War George was enlisted in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment and he was^[4] killed in action in 1917 in Iraq at the age of 26. He is remembered at the Basra Memorial, Panel 9, Iraq.

Research Notes

From Yvonne Benting I have not been able to find out anything about George Evans Benting between his birth in 1891 and his death in 1917. His mother Mary Benting died shortly before his baptism - with his two sisters in an orphanage in London in the 1901 census where was George and who was looking after him?
