Biography

Gabriel was a Friend (Quaker)

Gabriel Baynes, the eldest son of Bryan Baynes and Ann Unknown was born 1662 in Wennington, Lancashire, England. He was baptized 5 Oct 1662 in the Parish Church of Melling, Lancashire, England.[1]

Gabriel and his family later joined the Society of Friends (Quaker) and moved to Yorkshire.

By 5 March 1697/8, Gabriel, together with his widowed mother, Ann and unmarried sister, Deborah had immigrated to Bucks County, Pennsylvania and presented their certificate of removal from Settle Monthly Meeting in Yorkshire, England to the Middletown Monthly Meeting.[2]

He married Ellin Botting with whom he had one son, Bryan.

Gabriel died in Falls Township, Bucks County in 1727.

His will, written in 19 September 1727 and proven 12 February 1727/28 left his estate to wife, Ellin and son, Bryan. His will stipulated that should Bryan Baynes die without issue, Gabriel's estate was to then be divided into equal thirds between his brother (Thomas Baynes), sister (Agnes Woods) and the two children of his deceased sister, Deborah (Ann Hilbourn and Mary Lee).[3]
