Robert was born in 1841 to W. M. and H. Barlass. It is likely he never married, as his mother collected his military pension.

Service from The Story of a Thousand
Enlisted in to Company F of the 105th Ohio Volunteer Infantry on July 26,1862 at age 21 as Sergeant. He was wounded at the Battle of Chickamauga on September 19, 1863. He died February 20, 1864 at Willoughby, Ohio. [1]
