Biography

Jessie A. Bagby was born about 1835 in Buckingham County, Virginia.^[1][2] He was the son of Jesse B. Bagby and Ann (Armistead) Bagby.

In the 1850 U.S. Census, Jesse Bagby, age 15, and his siblings, Martha F Bagby, age 10, and Thomas B Bagby, age 7, were recorded living in Buckingham County, Virginia in the household of William and Appolonia Boatwright [recorded as Boatright].^[1] Appolonia was their aunt, sister of their father Jesse.

In the 1860 U.S. Census, Jesse Bagby was recorded as 25-years old, living in Powhatan, Virginia in the household of Albert B Palmore. He was employed as an overseer. His birthplace was recorded as Buckingham County, Virginia.^[2]

Jesse A Bagby enlisted in the Confederate States of America (CSA) Army on 6 June 1861 in New Canton, Buckingham, Virginia, He served in the 44th Infantry, Company C. He was wounded 10 May 1863 was admitted to General Hospital, Howard's Grove, Richmond, Virginia and died 16 June 1863. ^[3]
