I am an "Army Brat", daughter of Noel Jackson Tirey and Demetria (Hernandez) Tirey, and was born and partially raised in Madisonville, Hopkins, Kentucky. My daddy, Noel served two tours of duty in Korea and three in Vietnam. While we were living in Okinawa, Naha base, my mother was killed. Soon after, my father moved our little family to Madisonville, to be raised by my dear grandmother Inez (Slaton) Tirey Wilson, while my father continued to serve in the Army, Vietnam.
I'm a professional engineer, graduated from Vanderbilt University (Nashville, TN) with degrees in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering. I continued my education at the University of Miami (FL) and later Defense System Management College (DSMC) in Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
If you review the profiles which I manage, you'll notice that I pay attention to the details, and am source hungry, like so many other researchers. So thanks for your patience, regarding my suggested changes and requests.....they are only meant to improve the profiles and expand the research process.
The majority of the profiles (except living and immediate family) which I manage are open so that other cousins and researchers can contribute.
As a member of the Improvement Voyage and US Black Heritage Project, I appreciate the information provided by my mentors, and lessons learned from the experiences.
I recently started linking sine extended family members to unnamed and named slaves, which unfortunately some of my ancestors were identified to own, especially the Whitfield, Bryan and (some) Slaton family members.
I welcome changes, updates etc., for the profiles I manage. In addition, I have received several messages from non-WikiTree contributors requesting changes/suggestions for various profiles which I manage. Note, by adding an "Acknowledgements" heading and link to the changes page, provides a easy way for WikiTree and non-WikiTree contributors to ask questions.
If you have questions regarding profiles which I manage, etc., please send a message via private message or post it on the profile page for a particular person.

Yes, still interested. I have made numerous contributions and continue to improve the profiles which I and others manage. Recently, adopted many abandoned profiles for the Taedtey and Galbraith families, which have little to no information, which as you can know is challenging, but making progress.

The Profile Improvement Project (PIP) is performing a check-in. The Project operates in a team structure with these participant PIP Teams -- The Category Team, the Unknowns Team, and three Biography Teams. There is also the Voyage Team which guides new Voyagers. See the Profile Improvement Project Teams for a brief outline of each team.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you. You can click the reply button or message me with your answer. Thank you. Pam Kreutzer, leader of the US Civil War Project
My Dad had this note in his record for Luke Jr. "Served as a Captain in the SC Militia during the Rev. War. Served in the Regiment of his wife's Father, Col. George S. Powell" - I am not sure where he got it. He also had these dates for Luke Sr. "2/9/1719 - 8/29/1767, born in Duplin Co., NC and died in SC. Probate 10/21/1767" If those are right, he would have been dead during the Am. Rev. (1775 - 1783).
Do you have any info. on Luke Sr. & Jr. to help straighten it out? With so many Whitfield records in our line, I hate to see one messing up that part of the line so far back. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Whitfield-187 and https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Whitfield-3546 Thanks!
The "North Carolina Historical and Genealogical Register, Vol. 1, Number 1", written by J.R.B. Hathaway, also has issues. https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=mdp.39015028952177&view=1up&seq=601&skin=2021&q1=whitfield%20record As you know, the only source is "It was kindly furnished by a lady in North Carolina, who modestly requested that her name should not appear."
I think the referenced books are incorrect, most likley the Lukes were conflated. Once I have the time, I will review my file for Luke.

I was trying to use the existing numbers to keep the Sarahs straight, blew it! I can't even figure out how to send you a message, sent first to a "no-reply" box! Got a notice today of a Matthew Abbe who wants to merge the Sarahs, hope message to him gets through.
I find Wikitree confusing, that's why I try to only get information from it & not contribute any more than absolutely necessary. Lois Slaton
Josiah & Sarah Slaton are shown as siblings, children of James & Elizabeth Slaton
AND
John Morris & Sarah Todd are shown as siblings, children of Benjamin Lankford Todd!

Welcome to Wikitree! There are several tutorials, suggest you start by reviewing New Member How-to pages which may save you a lot of time and frustration. Are you new to genealogy? There is another free site called FamilySearch which is an excellent site for sources. Let me know if I can help.
Thanks for having a big heart ❤ and adopting those Orphaned Profiles. And thank you for all that you do on WikiTree! You have some beautifully sourced profiles. Every ancestor you honor in this way is beneficial to our global tree.

"According to the records of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Hugh Kirkwood, Sr. was born circa 1745 in Ireland. He brought his family to America prior to the Revolutionary War."
Yes, I've seen that also. It is also noted that his wife, Agnes Bowie, was from Dumbarton, Scotland. Since Belfast, Ireland was across from Stranraer, Scotland, many people travelled back & forth between the two port cities. So there was confusion at some point where he was born. However, I've seen records of church baptism of some of the Kirkwood children in Belfast at St. Mary's Presbyterian Church, including this Hugh. I will update this profile with the correct information & this notation.
Thanks! JKH
In 1976, cousin Hubert wrote his second book, "The Wilkie/Wilkey Family", which included the history of my 6th great grandparents, William Wilkie Sr and Elizabeth (Jobs) Wilkie, and their descendants, including my Tirey family.
By the way, Hubert assembled data for both books the old-fashioned way, by interviewing family members, family Bibles, documents, Federal Archive microfilms, letters, etc. There are several errors in such things as birth and marriage dates and places, but those are forgivable in light of the limited resources he had available to him during his work in the 1960's and early 1970'....way before the internet. I am in process of writing a book about my family which of course includes my Wilkie/Wilkey family.
I am not sure how Mr. Jerry Cox gathered his data, but I know my cousin Hubert and I have very specific information which shows our family surname as Wilkie/Wilkey.
Glad you have family books available. I'm not able to have many resources and library use is difficult in the Ozarks.
Jerry's my cousin and he networked with many other genealogies for many years starting with snail mail before e-mailing was available. Possibly there was some overlapping research between Hubert and Jerry. I haven't any access to his personal notes that source his material on the notes included in his GEDCOM but sources are cited within many narratives in Jerry's Notes.
I'm showing 9 Wikie into Wilkie merges required between the gedcoms of George Stradtman and Jerry Cox. Four are ready for me to merge (Isabel. Janet, Alexander and William) and 5 waiting to be put on trusted list: 2 managed by George (William and Elspeth) and 3 others managed by you (Sarah, Rebecca and George). If I have missed any, Let me know. I'd like to complete all the merges together as soon as possible.
It's easier for me to process merges in family groups. It avoids anything falling into cracks.
