Gwalter (Walter) Awbrey, born c. 1389, son of Richard Awbrey of Abercynrig and Crisli ferch Philip married Gwenllian ferch Rhys ap Morgan. They had five sons: Jenkin, John, Morgan (born 1410), Thomas, and Richard. [1][2][3]
Walter's wife, Morgan's mother, was the daughter and heiress of "Rhys ap Morgan ap Einion o Sir Gaer" and Walter's mother was the daughter of Philip "ap Elidir ddu." (with Philip spelled "Ffylip")[4]
Awbrey Medieval Line: Dr. Myron Evans' book O Hudd Ei Ddoe, Vole 1 discusses findings of "genealogist and historian Sir Arthur Turner-Thomas on the medieval Awbrey line....He advised that the line back to Thomas Awbrey, Cwnstabl Coch (born about 1299) is authentic and reliable and appears in Bartrum, but before that is not reliable." Although deemed unreliable, the book includes a good overview and discussion of available sources and research, including Janet Ariciu's research.[5]

Aberkenfig, Bridgend (Wikipedia, Aberkenfig) is a different place, apparently. See this post in a discussion, which says "The Abercynrig that is home to the Awbrey family is located about 3 miles southeast of Brecon"
With "[6]" saying "near Brecknock", then "Aberkynvrig" should be transcribed as Abercynrig, not Aberkenfig (or Abercynfrig).
