Pierre, born in 1631,[7] in Vion, France[citation needed] to Catherine and René Chauvin,[8] married Marthe Autreuil (b 1636) in Montréal on September 1658.[7][9]

This is the most reliable research currently available.
Catherine Havard was the wife of René Chauvin. Her baptism and marriage acts have not been found and her parents are unknown. René Chauvin and Catherine Havard had the following known children, all baptised at Saint-Martin (Vion, Maine, now Sarthe):
Jehan, bapt. 28 September 1616
Jean, bapt 29 October 1619
Renée, bapt 17 April 1623
Pierre, born ca. 1625, migrant
Françoise, bapt 27 April 1627
Antoine, bapt 19 May 1635
She died and was buried on 21 October 1637 in Vion (Saint-Aubin church).[11]
Research Notes
Name: I was unable to find a Solesne or Solesme, but Solesmes is a town northwest of Vion (see the Wikipedia articles on Vion and Solesmes [in French; see Google Translate of Vion for English]). Therefore, I changed references to Solesne and Solesme in this profile to Solesmes. ~ Noland-165 12:58, 7 May 2016 (EDT)
Unknown Parents - The following comment posted 15 Jan. 2019 by French Roots Project leader (thanks Isabelle!) notes that her parents are not known:
I have updated the profile according to information given by Fichier Origine (which would override all the other sources on the profile at this point). Fichier does not name parents for her, which means her parents are unknown, until original research using reliable sources uncovers them. I can see no evidence that she was "of Solesmes".
Rene CHAUVIN was born before 1617 in Selesme, Anjou, France. He died in Lefleche, Solesme, France. Rene married Catherine (Havard) AVARD DE SOLESNE.[12]
Catherine (Havard) AVARD DE SOLESNE was born before before 1620.[12]
(Catherine's father) Maurice HAVARD died 9 Apr 1627 in Sarthe, Vion, France.[13]

The WikiTree profile Avard-4 was created through the import of myfamily.ged on 23 March 2011. As of May 20, 2014, it included Nos Origines as source, but some entries also referenced what looked like LDS Ancestral File Numbers with user IDs (left as footnotes). The profile also included the "unattached" user ID: 7D161A24-6D2E-48AF-9620-B69459226C92.
A profile for Avard de Salesne-1 was created by Maureen Deegan through the import of LaValle.ged on Mar 12, 2018 (merged 24 March 2018).

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Catherine by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Catherine:

Hi! Danielle Laird worked her magic on the profile for Catherine's son, Pierre and posted that his mother should be Havard, not Avard:
"...The mother should have her name corrected to Havard, Fichier origine in the Dossier fichier has a lot of original records which all show it as Havard, not Avard, she only gets mentioned once in New France, on her son's marriage record, and then it got written Avarde. (sic)"
Maureen - my apologies. I think this may be the only duplicate you created. Who'd a thunk I'd find two new Chauvin cousins within a few days! (I was thinking of this duplicate set: Guyon-88 & Guyon-523 (compare), with duplicates for husband Gilles and daughter Anne also.
Avard de Salesne-1 and Avard-4 appear to represent the same person because: Hi! I have protected Avard-4 to preserve "Avard" as her Last Name at Birth (LNAB) based on my understanding of WikiTree name guidelines & the lack of primary sources to show her LNAB included "de Salesne" (see also the discussion about "Salesne" in the Research Notes section of Avard-4). See WikiTree's guidelines and also French Roots project guidelines for details. If you disagree, please post a question in G2G (tagged Avard, Chauvin, french_roots & naming_conventions at least) so that it can be discussed (not only whether or not to include more than Avard in the LNAB field, but also "Salesne", which seems to have been a misreading of Solesmes, as noted in Avard-4#Research_Notes).
Hi Maureen! It looks like we're related - WikiTree says we're 9th cousins, 1ce removed, through Chauvin-121. We may have a closer connection, but I think that Pierre's profile is the first existing one you connected to instead of creating a duplicate profile.
I'm sorry I wasn't available earlier, when you first began creating duplicates. Be on the lookout for merge proposals!
I'll make that change later this week.
Cheers, Liz
