Biography

Born in the Corporation Hospital at Maracaibo, Zulia, Venezuela while father was attorney for Gulf Oil Corporation. The family left Maracaibo in 1941 when war was imminent. The family moved to Breaux Bridge, St. Martin Parish Louisiana to reside at the Albert E. Broussard home on East Bridge Street adjacent to Bayou Teche. They resided there three and a half years while Grover Rees worked with the National Petroleum Commission in Washington D.C. Grover Rees resumed employment with Gulf in 1944 and was soon promoted to Associate General Counsel at the Gulf headquarters in Pittsburgh PA. They resided at 37 Rocklyn Place in Mt. Lebanon, an upscale suburb south of Pittsburgh. David attended St. Bernard school and Mt. Lebanon High School. The 1953 Mt.Lebanon High School year book notes “We pick the best to lead the rest.”
