Hannah Armistead was born in 1679 in Elizabeth City County, Virginia, the youngest of five children and two daughters of Anthony Armistead Sr. and Hannah Ellyson.
Her exact death date is unknown, but she was dead prior to July 1717 when her husband William Sheldon is named in the Will of his new father-in-law Thomas Nutting.
William Sheldon and Hannah Armistead were granted a marriage license 10 December 1698 in Elizabeth City County.[1][2] They had no children.
After his wife Hannah died, William Sheldon married Katherine Nutting, daughter of Thomas Nutting, justice of peace for York County, Virginia, and had no issue.[3]
Hannah Armistead married William Sheldon, not William Shelton Sr.. Hannah and William Sheldon had no children, and she was dead before July 1717. In the will of Thomas Nutting dated 11 July 1717 and proved 18 September 1717, he bequeathed "the plantation at the head of the Charles river to his daughter Katherine Sheldon and if she dies without issue, then to my son-in-law William Sheldon. ... to son-in-law Capt. William Sheldon my seal ring, cane and sword; ... son-in-law Capt. William Sheldon and Jane Nutting executors."[4] This establishes that William Sheldon married his second wife, Katherine Nutting, prior to July 1717. William and Katherine also had no children.
William Shelton Sr. is being removed as husband of Hannah Armistead. All children linked to William Shelton are also being removed. (Strutton-11 16:31, 2 March 2022 (UTC))
