Robert Armistead, son of Anthony Armistead, and Hannah Ellyson, his wife, and grandson of the emigrant, William, was born about 1667 in Elizabeth City County, Virginia.
Robert was a burgess for Elizabeth City county in 1714, succeeding Nicholas Curle, who died during the session. Again in the 1723-1726 session of the House of Burgesses, Robert Armistead succeeded James Ricketts following his death.[1]
In 1715 Capt. Robert Armistead, of Elizabeth City and York Counties, was agent for Row's warehouse on Poquosin river; served as justice and sheriff of York county and as Capt. of Militia. and his will was proved in Elizabeth City county, May 9, 1742. He left issue--Ellyson Armistead and others.
