Research Note

Per the only attachment to this profile, he represents the John Armistead who married to Mary Churchill and died in Gloucester County in 1762. He was father to Churchill Armistead, named as his son and heir at law in the administration of his estate. Additional genealogical information given, is that John Armistead had a sister, Susanna Armistead, who was for several years after his death, under the care of Col. Landon Carter until she was married. ^[1]

John Armistead was married 23rd November 1749 to Mary Churchill of Middlesex County, Virginia. She was the daughter of Armistead Churchill and Hannah Harrison.^[4]

John appears to have passed away in late 1762 in Gloucester County. His estate was administered predominately by Mary's brother, Col. William Churchill in Middlesex County. His widow again married to Maj. John Robinson of Middlesex, who also administered upon the estate.

Churchill Armistead was named as his son and heir at law in the administration of his estate.^[5]
